“I am deeply honoured to represent the Labour Party forBlackburn in the 2015 general election. I will continue to work tirelessly for the principles the Labour Party believe in, because we want a society where the “wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many not the few; where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe and where we live together freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect, and as trustees for future generations.
“Blackburn needs a Labour MP who understands and represents the people who live there. Although I am originally from Dumbarton in Scotland, I made Blackburn my home 37years ago. I’m from a working class family, a single parent and have direct personal experience of the difficulties local families face in hard economic times. I’ve used that experience to represent my local area giving me a unique understanding of the needs and the challenges Blackburn and its people face.”
I am committed to prioritise and fight for issues that matter to local people
“As well as protecting jobs, I will work for and promote growth in the local economy. I will campaign to protect and sustain the NHS which has been under attack following the Tories top down re-organisation and privatisation agenda. I will stand up for hard working families who have seen family incomes shrink while the cost of living continues to spiral upwards. I will also tirelessly promote active engagement with all sections of the community.”
