Shear Brow Councillor Solly Khonat
I’m Solly Khonat, Labour councillor for Shear Brow ward in Blackburn. This page gives information about the work I do with my team to improve the ward where we all live.
The Shear Brow ward is situated in the central area of Blackburn. It is a mixed area encompassing the main shopping area of the town and the residential area Shear Brow.

Solly (short for Suleman) is married with five children and has been a resident in Blackburn for over 30 years. He is fluent in four languages and has been involved in voluntary work for many years, both as a magistrate and Secretary for Blackburn, Darwen and Great Harwood newsagents. In 2002 he was awarded an ‘unsung hero’ award by the Prince of Wales during the Queen’s Golden Jubilee year.
